Collinsville State High School is the smallest stand-alone state high school in Queensland. The school services the Collinsville township and the surrounding rural area. Established in 1986, it provides education to a diverse range of students, from both town and rural-based backgrounds. Located in the northern region of the Bowen Basin, local industry is largely based on coal mining. The school size and enrolment resultantly fluctuates in line with the fortunes of the mining industry.
Collinsville State High School provides the local community with a comprehensive quality education aligned with the community values and aspirations in the quality education programs offered in a small school setting for students from year 7 to year 12.

Our community
Collinsville is a mining community located 88 kilometres from Bowen North Queensland, steeped in history and union ties. The nearness to Bowen enables families to conduct a range of business and shopping in that city. This creates a community with a country feel yet with the benefits of being close to a provincial city and beach.
As per Census 2006, the school has been identified as being located in an area of socio-educational disadvantage. Collinsville State High School is proud of the relationship it has developed with the community and local enterprises. It has a committed P&C that organises fundraising activities and the school tuck-shop/canteen.
Our focus is to bring the school and community together to provide our young persons with the best developmental opportunities and experiences.
